How We Keep Cool(er) in Insane Heat

Yesterday it was 117° here in Las Vegas.  Today was cooler - around 115°.  Here's one way we're dealing with it:

Our neighbor's pool - wish it was ours
Swimming at night is great - no need for sunscreen.  And believe me, you need it during the day around here.

The animals need cooling too.  We hooked up a mister system for our chickens and rabbits years ago, and it has proved to be a lifesaver for them.

I went out to feed and water the animals a few days ago, and found that we have (at least) 6 baby bunnies.  Oops. I thought our rabbits were the same sex.  We're actually thrilled, we love rabbits and they'll all stay. We still haven't figured out where mama was hiding them, and it's only a 20 x 20 ft pen with small barn.  Anyway, it looks like this little cutie is dirty, but she's wet.  They've been sitting under the misters too.

If you look closely at the photo above, you'll see our cat and chickens enjoying the shade tree together.

I'll be back in a few days to show-n-tell a skirt that I'm finishing up.   I'd have it done by now, but I need elastic, my car broke down and my husband's been working LONG days.  He's a Refrigeration/AC tech.  In the desert.  Yeah, poor guy.
